Another successful week much to my surprise. I was not as active this week. My body was still recouping from the challenge with my cousin. I still managed to get my minimum calorie burn in. But did have a little splurge and a lot of sodium this week and did not realize my sodium until after I had eaten.
With that being said. I was down another 2.2 pounds this week. A total of 62.4 pounds now and I just cannot wait to reach my goal. 37.6 pounds left to get to goal and I plan on being there by Christmas.
I have had a lot of messages from people since I posted a current picture and I thank you for every one of your messages. I have also had people reach out for some guidance and information and I am only too happy to lend some support. I would not be as successful without my BodyMedia Armband. If your interested in purchasing it. Please follow the link. If you have a smart phone you can download the app and sync it to your armband to see the live data. This is the armband I have and it is The Link Armband. Again if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Onward and upward. Or should I say downward?
Wow! I need to wrap three weeks of posts into one. First of all. Thank you to all of you who took the time to message me to see how I was doing because you had not seen a post update. Messages of a lot of you on your own journey in secret as well telling me how you follow me and that I inspire you. That really made my day, my week, my year.
The last three weeks have been a whirlwind. Work got crazy busy for me and when that happens things get out of whack. Long hours means eating on the road when not prepared (which means foods full of sodium) and not being as active as I have been. With that said. Although I kept my calories in check. I did not always get my minimum hour jog in every day. I also had at least 3 days of high sodium. Sodium can be just as bad for you as high calories or fat can be. So the scale 3 weeks ago didn't move. I was the same. I was ok. I knew it was going to take my body a few to level back out and get back to normal.
The week after was better. Time was a little more manageable and I planned better with making my lunches to take with me and not being strapped for time. I also got my jogging in. Big difference!!! The scale was my friend that week. I was down 3.4 pounds. Woo Hoo! Happy dance! The last 2 weeks have now balanced out. So here I sit at 56.8 pounds lost. Wow! I can't tell you how much better I feel. More energetic. Sleeping better too. It is also quite noticeable now. I get many comments every day about how I look and that makes me want to strive for more.
I have people asking me almost daily about what is on my arm. I am only too happy to share how my BodyMedia Armband has helped me on my journey. It's my accountability partner. When I see how close I am to a goal, because of checking my live data. I can push myself that much more.
I was asked recently if you can still have a social drink? Go without? Let's be clear. If I had to give anything up all together. I would not be successful at this. Everything in moderation. When I go state side. I still go to Frank and Teresa's Anchor Bar for Beer and Wings. I also know I will be doing some extra steps to make up for those beer and wings. Piece of delicious red velvet cake with cream cheese icing for my grand daughter's birthday. Of course I had it. I also had to work a little for it. You cannot totally deprive yourself of things you love. It's when you do that you fall off the wagon and the binge eating starts and it's hard to get back on track. Remember. This is not an over night fix. This is life long. I have been at this 7 months now and this is a day in the life now.
I generally jog now 1 to 3 hours daily. Depending. I have not been able to jog since my 20's. The smoking held me back. Then it was the weight. Now it's neither. I actually feel crappy now if I don't get a jog in.
Summer is a hard time as well. There are a lot more social commitments where the food that is being served might not be what you eat. Or it's your time to indulge in some drinks and desserts. Again. Moderation and my commitment to myself was to move extra for those extra calories. One of the things that helped me this summer was 2 challenges I have done with my cousin Val. God love her. We have done some silly stuff trying to get our steps in to beat one another. If only there were hidden camera's taping what we were doing. I am sure you all would be laughing as much as we have. But it helped me strive for more. Strive to beat her and strive to beat MYSELF. Something I really challenged myself with this week and hope it pays off on the scale.
This was the end of a challenge week for Val and I. So I pushed myself a lot further then even I thought I could. I am attaching pictures of my BodyMedia App so you can see what I mean by the data is right in front of you. So on a normal day. I want to get in a hour of jogging. You don't have to jog. Even start by walking 30 to 60 minutes a day. Just get that body moving. I generally keep my calories between 1200 and 1400 a day. Women should never be below 1200 calories a day. Your body goes into starvation mode and stores the fat. So in order to lose 2 pounds a week. I need to burn 1000 more calories then what I consume. So if I eat 1200 calories, I need to burn 2200 calories. If I burn 1400 calories, I need to burn 2400 calories. Easy math right? Well it's trying to figure out what your body does burn is the hard part. Your body burns while sleeping, while cleaning, while walking and while I am sitting here typing this. Figuring out what your body burns is the hard part. That's where the BodyMedia Armband comes in. I am attaching 2 pictures. 1 of a normal workout day with an hour jog and an extreme day where I pushed myself for 6 hours.
I hope this explains it more for a lot of you asking questions. It is far easier for me to explain in person or on the phone even. But if you do have any more questions. Please feel free to ask me.
Now for this past week. I have worked hard pushing more than I thought. Thanks to wanting to beat Val in our current step challenge. We have been tied 2 weeks a piece. I however did win the tie breaking week and it helped me push more than I thought possible. I also needed to make up for a Red Lobster night. That being said. The scale this morning read 187.8! Down another 3.4 pounds for a total of 60.2 pounds! I am a VERY HAPPY GIRL this morning!
So thank you everyone for your support, words of encouragement, compliments and questions. You help me keep going. Find your motivation and start your own journey with No Excuses.
Until next time. Be Kind!
Cheers!!!

Challenges are always in front of us
This past week has been a difficult one. For a couple of reasons. First and foremost stress. It was one of those where I could feel my blood pressure rising. And of course, I am, like many others a stress eater. I think if I hadn't come as far as I have, I probably would have blown the whole week. Made excuses and tried to get back on track this week. Or blown 2 weeks. Been there, done that... you know the rest.
I have to tell you. I think hitting ONEderland last week help keep me grounded. Not only did I not want to lose the hard work I have done. I NEVER WANT TO SEE THE 200's AGAIN. And that kept me going. I still jogged every day. And for the first time in a while, there were days I didn't want to. But I made the choice. I was doing this.
Thankfully something else kept me going. My cousin Val. I could not let that woman beat me again this week in our challenge. So on our new challenge, Val won week 1. I won week 2. Onto week 3.
Carabram was this past weekend here in Brampton. It was a let down yet again. But of course we also ate at Carabram. I did try to track my calories as best I could without knowing what exactly was in everything. I had sausage, perogies, cabbage rolls and ono ono. Oh my goodness. Was going to have to work for all this.
Dalton and I went to the movies as well and shared a movie popcorn. No butter. But still. All in all. A lot of extra calories and things I would not normally touch.
With that said. The scale still went down. 194.6.....another 1.8 lost!!!! Very happy with that considering. A couple things that are hard when eating out and you are not preparing the food. Number 1 is the actual amount of calories you are eating. Number 2 is how it is prepared, sodium, fat, oil, etc. So I will happily take that 1.8 and add it to my total to make 53.4 pounds lost. I am thrilled and never felt better. My feet on the other hand. lol. I am in desperate need of a pedicure.
Till next time. Be kind.
Cheers!!!

ONEderland!!!! Woo Hoo!!!
To say that I am a happy camper right now is an understatement. With having our company golf day yesterday I weighed in a day early. It's never good to weigh after a splurge day. With that being said. I ate very lean this week and kept my calories to about 1250 a day. I jogged for an hour 4 days and 2 hours 2 days. Really got my calorie deficit up. I quite enjoy jogging and it's something I have not been able to since my very early 20's and I am actually better at it now since I smoked back then.
When I got on the scale yesterday morning. I was thrilled!!! ONEderland has arrived!!!!! I lost 3.6 pounds this week. Bringing my total so far to 51.6 pounds lost. 196.4 on the scale! This is big for me. I have not been able to get below 200 since about 2008. I am so glad that I got the BodyMedia Armband. It has really helped me stay on track and meet my goals. Seeing the numbers in front of you not only take the guess work out. But helps me push myself more.
I cleaned out my closet this past week as well. What a great feeling to get rid of the size 20, 18 and some of the 16's. And what is waiting for me is almost a whole new wardrobe. When I was on my "weigh" down before I had started buying clothes the next couple sizes down. So there are clothes with the tags still on them in the closet and in the drawers. I can't wait till I am able to wear them.
I started a new challenge with my cousin Val this week as well. And guess what? She beat me this week. Bugger!!! Can't let her do that again! Watch out couz!!! I am coming.
For anyone that would like to purchase the armband I have included the link here. Or message me with your email and I will email it to you.

Breaking the Barrier
This week was a very important week for me. They all are. But this one especially. When I first started on this journey a few years ago I was losing and doing quite well at it. I had dropped 46.5 pounds and that was it. I just could not get past it and eventually started gaining again. NOT THIS TIME!!!!
With that said. It was going to be a difficult week to get through with Canada Day Long weekend and a couple of BBQ's that I had been invited to. If you have been reading my journey. You know that I don't believe in depriving yourself. NOT OF ANYTHING!!!! A piece of cake, wings, beer etc. However, it's within reason. And I know I have to work for it.
My plan over this this past long weekend, hoping to do some damage control in regards to the food and drinks I was going to consume. Simply put. Work my A** off! And that I did. Before the BBQ on Saturday I jogged for 2 Hours. And again on Sunday for 2 Hours before that BBQ. By the time I arrived at the BBQ on Sunday I could barely move to get a beer. Every time I got up from the chair I winced. I was quite the site. Needless to say, I was so sore Sunday I could not move. I had a veg day but my body needed it. It was telling me enough. Then Tuesday rolled around and I was worried about the scale this morning. So, I took 2 Advil and jogged for another hour.
My running joke lately....Advil Liquid Caps, Breakfast of Champions.
Let me tell you. I earned every Ounce I lost this week. This has been my hardest week so far. I had a barrier I had to break through on a week that I was going to and did enjoy myself. With that said. I managed to drop 1.8 Pounds. Very happy with that. I BROKE THROUGH THE BARRIER!!!!! 48 POUNDS LOST!!!!! And I am 1 pound away from ONEderland. And I just cannot wait!!!!
This past week I have met a couple of fantabulous ladies that wanted to hear how I have been doing this and I was only too happy to share. I can't even explain the feeling when I was told that I was truly inspiring. My heart swelled. Thank you. Not only is this about me. IT'S ABOUT YOU TOO!!!!! If I help even 1 person get through their journey. I would be THRILLED!!!! If any of you out there want to know more. I am more than willing to chat with you. Just let me know.
With that said. It's time for another week. Another Challenge. But I know you will hear from me before Wednesday again. As soon as I see ONEderland. You will all know!
Till next time. Be Kind.
Cheers!

Bragging Rights!!!! Woo Hoo!!!
Another good week on the scale. Down another 2.2 pounds. Woo Hoo! Total of 46.2 pounds so far. Feeling great and loving the compliments. This is where I had difficulty the last time I was losing. I got to 46.5 pounds lost and as they say. Hit the wall. That is not going to happen this time. I am a lot more aware and thanks to my BodyMedia armband, it is keeping me motivated and on top of my weight loss.
Now for bragging rights. If you remember, I had told you about a step challenge I was having with my cousin Val. Well.....I am going to use Val's words.
2 months ago Tammy Harnum convinced me to get a BodyMedia armband, which I too swear by now. I now call it my 'odometer'. 6 weeks ago I challenged her to a 30,000 steps per week / 10 week challenge whereby, starting on Wednesdays the first person to hit 30,000 steps would be crowned CHAMP OF THE WEEK! and the most weekly wins would be CHAMP OF THE CHALLENGE . I now must confess and say she has won, 6 out of the last 10 weeks, but wait!! I have never laughed so much, walked so much, stomped so much, danced so much, been so aggressive and quite frankly did not realize how competitive she was!!! By the time week 6 rolled by, she was getting 30,000 steps ON THE FIRST DAY!! . Ouch!! I salute her feet and possible the podiatrist, I'm sure she needs now. I never dreamed this would so exciting fun and inspirational as during the weeks we helped keep each other motivated, that even though the steps and workouts were there the scale wasn't co-operating. I owe her a lot for the changes she has brought about in me and I feel it's time to shout WAY TO GO GIRL AND THANK YOU GIRL!!! You definitely are aggressive, competitive and without a doubt a hoot and a half. There was times I was like a hamster on a wheel, marching while talking to my family, marching while brushing my teeth and yes, when I knew I might have a chance one night I laid my head on a pillow and let my lower body keep moving because quite frankly I was dead tired at the end of the day. My family has laughed at me, my friends have wondered why I sound like I'm walking while on the phone, I've done it all, to no avail. I had no sympathy for any of her pain LOL, but I do commend her on the drive, the ambition and the down right edge she put out on me. !! Wednesday, Thursday, Friday would be WTF for me, and I would open facebook with one eye open and scream a loud DAMN as soon as I knew she got me. So, Thank you Tammy, thanks thanks thanks, this was great! I can officially say I had NO EXCUSES, but walked, danced, ran, stomped my way into some memorable weight loss moments.
Thank you Val for doing this with me. It has been a blast and one of the reasons I have been so successful on this journey. Now we need to come up with a new challenge to help get us through the rest of the summer. I am currently awaiting my prize for winning the challenge. Hopefully it will be here shortly.
Now the challenge will be the up coming week. Long weekend with 2 BBQ's. So, lots of food and copious amounts of alcohol. Which means, I need to try and step up my calorie burn. Either way. I am going to enjoy my 2 BBQ's and if I gain. I gain. And will get right back on track.
Till Next week. Be kind.
Cheers!

Even I'm amazed at my results this week
Well.... to say that I am thrilled is an understatement. And again, my success is linked to the BodyMedia armband. I had a lot going on this past weekend. So to try to stay ahead. I again reduced my calories to about 1200 a day. However, I did not get a lot of park time in this week.
I was preparing for my grand daughter's 1st Birthday Party. And anyone who knows me. Knows I throw a party. So in preparation. I was doing A LOT of running around. This helped with my calorie burn and my deficit was always much higher than the 1000 a day I needed.
With that being said. My daughter and her family came in Friday afternoon. Something easy for dinner? Chinese food. Needless to say. I did not count my calories. Do I need to mention as well the amount of MSG and sodium in Chinese food.
Moving on. Saturday was Izzy's 1st Birthday and we had it pot luck. What was on my plate? How about Wings, Meatballs, Jamaican Patty, Pasta Salad, Potato Salad and Breaded Chicken. All the things I would not normally touch. Ohhh...I forgot to mention the slice of Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing I had as well. Later that night. A few pints and some more pasta salad and breaded chicken. The scale was not going to like me Wednesday morning. Oh well. You don't do it often. Sunday came and I was just so tired. I barely moved all day. In fact, it was a rare day. I did not even get my minimum calorie burn in. And to top it off. Guess what? I had some more Wings, Meatballs, Pasta Salad. And Yep! Another slice of Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing!
Needless to say. I did not count my calories for 3 days!!!! Come Monday morning knew I had to get back on track. Dropped the calorie intake again to 1200 and MOVED MY BUTT!!!!!
Guess what I saw this morning? 204!!! REALLY????? I dropped 2 pounds from last week? I'll take it! lol. After 11 weeks of using the BodyMedia Armband I am still amazed at how much it helps me. Yes I did extra work. But I also ate extra. But 44 pounds...Woo Hoo! That much closer to the next Milestone!
Till next time. Be kind!
Cheers!
